Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 July 2026

This policy explains what personal data Plantannia ("we", "us") collects, why, and your rights over it. We're based in the United Kingdom and handle your data in line with UK GDPR.

Who we are

Plantannia is a plant-care web app for UK gardeners. For any privacy question, contact us at hello@plantannia.co.uk.

What we collect

Account details — your name, email address and a securely hashed password.

Postcode (optional) — used only to give you local weather and frost alerts.

Your garden data — the plants, beds and gardens you add, and care tasks.

Photos you upload — images you submit for plant identification or garden analysis.

We do not collect payment details, and we don't sell your data to anyone.

How we use it

To run the service: create your account, store your plants and gardens, send you care reminders and weather alerts, identify plants, and answer your gardening questions. Our legal basis is performance of our contract with you; reminder emails can be switched off at any time in your settings.

Who processes your data

We use trusted providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf:

Vercel (hosting) and Turso (database) — store the app and your data.

Resend — sends your reminder emails.

Google (Gemini) — processes photos and questions you submit for plant identification, garden analysis and the AI assistant.

iNaturalist, Open-Meteo and postcodes.io — provide plant photos and local weather.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you logged in. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your personal data and garden information. Email us if you'd like us to do it for you.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@plantannia.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).

Children

Plantannia isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll change the date above when we do. Continued use means you accept the current version.
